I love that book by Odell and read it at the start of Covid. Another book I highly recommend is “Rest is Resistance - A Manifesto” by Tricia Hersey. Thank you for sharing this.
Zen!! Just finished The Book of Form and Emptiness, Ruth Ozeki, it’s too much, but interesting parallel. Doing nothing is actually doing something…. Am glad you are improving 🥰
Now I want to read Odell—read a number of reviews when it came out. I am happy to decorate your head whenever you’d like w fruit-based ink. Great essay here. And sad situation at the institution.
I haven't gotten very far in the book but, obviously, it's resonating. And thanks for the offer: my hair is actually starting to grow back! It's a whole 1/4 long or so ...
MB - all of these posts are so good - even when you Don't, you Do!
I spend a LOT of time (not now while it's snowing) aimlessly watching bugs on plants, and sometimes wonder who notices and just maybe gets a little curious. Stopped a neighbor kid from reflexively squishing a spider the other day - I had pointed it out and how was he to know I just meant lookee there! Now he does. You never know what just being you does in this world. Sending love from St Paul MN - (an)other MB
Hallelujah that you were able to actually do the nothing prescribed. Heal hard, and keep a foot in unproductivity even now that you are returning to work. Cheering for you.
You ain’t helpless, hopeless or hairless. You are Martha. More than ever. Fuerte!

I LOVED that book! :)
Burgi I will add the Ozeki to the list!
Maybe build more nothingness into your life? It's ok to just be without having to be something.
Oh I know! The challenge is remembering how to be something when you need to be.

Thank you MB! Watching bugs on plants is good meditation.
