Did you know that chemo can make you cry? For months now, my eyes have been leaking, tears streaming down my cheeks despite the sunniest of moods. On the scale of bodily mysteries it is minor, if annoying, and I chalked it up to just one more weird way I was falling apart without thinking too much about causality until I had lunch with another breast cancer patient who was having the same problem. Her oncologist’s nurse had told her it was a side effect of Herceptin, something about the drug blocking the normal ducts for your tears, so that they seep out uncontrollably around the edges.
